PSUGB: What was your favorite part of the brigade?
MK: My sophomore year I went on a business brigade trip to Embera, Panama during the Spring Break. I spent one week working in a group with the indigenous community, teaching them business basics in a series of educational lectures. We also consulted the local kiosk businesses as part of our trip, which was a great learning experience for me. The best part of the trip was the personal relationships I have built with the group I worked with and people we consulted. I formed long lasting friendships with Global Brigades members and that was the reason I decided to get more involved with Global Business Brigades.
PSUGB: What aspect of Global Brigades made you want to join?
MK: As an international student, I am interested in any kind of new cultural experiences. Global Business Brigades was a great opportunity to explore new country, not just from the tourist perspective, but also make an impact and help indigenous people with business basics. Joining Global Brigades was also a great way to build resume and get to know like minded people.
PSUGB: Why would you be willing to recommend GB to potential new members?
MK: I would recommend Global Brigades to any student because it is a great way to get involved and travel abroad purposefully. You will have an opportunity to get to know a lot of new people who are interested in international sustainable development. Having multiple chapters in Global Brigades, students with diverse backgrounds can find a group that they like.
